Enjoy the sunrise from your bed, or view whales, sealions, otters, seals, harlequin ducks, eagles from the deck or living room. Step onto beach or nearby walking trails.

Arriving on BC Ferries
Denman Island, a friendly, diverse, ecologically conscious, vibrant arts community is situated less than 3 hours from Victoria, approximately an hour from Nanaimo, minutes from Courtney-Comox (nearest airport). Hourly ferry service (10-15 min) provides easy access from Highway 19 or the Island Highway on Vancouver Island (Exit 101 at Buckley Bay).  From the ferry landing on Denman, a 15 minute drives brings you to the East ferry terminal connecting to Hornby Island. Now that you're here, what is there to do?

If outdoor adventure is what you seek, we can arrange for kayak and bicycle rentals, or direct you to one of the many hiking trails on the Island. The golden beaches of Hornby Island are only a short ferry ride away, but we have some secret swimming spots here on Denman, too - including two fresh-water lakes and some very special marine locations. You can reach Mt. Washington in under an hour, if snow sports are more your speed.


Once you get tired of beachcombing, swimming and enjoying the view, you can visit Arts Denman's website, where you'll find information on the annual concert series, summer and ongoing art exhibits at the Art Centre, and the Reader's & Writer's Festival. You can drop by Classic Movie Nights, or schedule your visit to coincide with the Pottery Tour or Home & Garden Tour; and self-guided studio tours are available year-round.
